About the Board Of Governors

Parent, Teacher and Staff Governors are elected and are representatives of their groups. They keep in touch with those who elect them but make up their own minds on how to vote on any specific issue.

Head Teachers can choose whether or not to be Governors

Local Education Authority (LEA) Governors are appointed by the London Borough of Merton. They keep in touch with the Council but vote in the best interest of the School.

Co-opted Governors are invited to join the governing body by the non-co-opted governors when vacancies exist. Among co-opted governors are representatives of the local community, including business interests.

The Governors have a duty to help Hollymount School provide the best possible education for it's pupils by:

  1. Supporting Mrs. Jackson and her staff
  2. Being a critical friend
  3. Monitoring the school's progress and planning for the future
  4. Accounting for the school's overall performance and for decisions made

The full Governing body meets at least once a term.

The Governors also sit on a number of smaller committees which each have a specific brief.

  • Premises Committee
  • Personal Committee
  • School Development Committee
  • The Co-ordinating Committee

Governors can be contacted through the School
