Reception Update

Christmas Show

What a week. After lots of rehearsals, tears and focus, we got to the big day. On Monday, the children did their first performance with an audience as they did the show in front of the other children in the school. That went really well and gave the children lots of confidence.

Then on Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon, it was time to show off their skills and perform to mums and dads. And they were amazing. It all came together in two wonderful performances. It should not be underestimated how daunting it can be for children to stand on a stage and remember songs, lines and dances. They were amazing.

Thank you for you support with learning lines, making costumes and putting up with tired children.

Rainbow Theatre Pantomime

On Thursday, we were lucky enough to enjoy a pantomime. Rainbow Theatre group popped in to do a very funny version of Cinderella.

But they couldn't do it without some help. Children from Holly and Willow both joined in to becomes mice, butlers, fairies and lots of other characters to help make the show magical.

The children really loved the show and it was a perfect way to celebrate after such an amazing week (and term).

Maths

The children have loved playing with our Numberblocks printing.  They have made number progressions from 1 to 10 and noticing the stair pattern that is made. "Each on is one more block".

Independence

We try very hard to instil a sense of self belief and a can-do attitude into the children. We are nearly one whole term in now and we can see this paying dividends.  Simple things like putting on coats and being responsible for their bags, gloves, hats and homework in the morning and at home-time. These all add to a sense of independence and responsibility.  This then comes out in other areas like independent reading and writing which we love to see.

Christmas Party

On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have a party organised by the parents of Holly and Willow classes.

We got to do all sorts of great activities which we really enjoyed.  Thank you to all the parents and to the class reps who came in to make it extra special.

Santa even paid us a visit and gave each class a present.  We must have been good Reception classes this term.  Thanks Santa.

 Gifts

A huge thank you for the amazingly kind gifts.  We really appreciate all the lovely things and the kind words.  It has been a great term and your children have be wonderful.

Thank you for your continued support this term.  We don't have any homework now until January but please feel free to do a little work over Christmas.  Tricky words are the area we need to work on the most.

Have a lovely break and see you all in January,
